How does Electrolysis help with Menopause?
What is Menopause ?
Menopause refers to a naturally occurring stage in a woman’s life when her menstrual periods cease permanently and she can no longer get pregnant. It is a period of drastic change for women and can affect them in a multitude of ways, leading to disruptions in their daily life. As the effects of menopause are not limited to the physical changes, it can directly influence their mental health and their overall wellbeing.
How does Menopause affect Women?
Menopause results in the decrease of estrogen production within the body and as a result of this the stopping of periods and menstrual cycles. With the inhibition of estrogen and progesterone the body witnesses a rise in the predominantly male hormone testosterone, causing changes within the female body at this time. The effects of Menopause are not only physiological, but also mental and emotional, caused by the fluctuating hormones.
So what are these changes?
Menopause can lead to changes in hair colour, hair growth, weight and body shape, headaches, migraines as well as sleeping patterns. As a result of increased levels in testosterone, women generally see increased hair growth on their upper lip, chin, cheek and jaw as well as the beginning of advanced graying of hairs. Combined with the emotional effects of menopause which include mood swings and anxiety, these increased sprouts of hair can be detrimental to a woman’s mental health and self-esteem. This can be further influenced with the start of Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) which is used to calm the symptoms of menopause.
So how can Hair Removal help reclaim control over your body during and after menopause:
Tackling the adverse effects of Menopause such as changes in hair growth and greying, can leave women feeling very defeated. This is why electrolysis is one of the best treatments for hairs that sprout during this period.
When hair begins to change during Menopause, it is not limited to increased greying, or new areas of hair growth. Very often the actual texture of hair might start to change too. Treatments such as laser hair removal can fail to prove effective as laser can only treat pigmented hair, making grey hair much harder to treat. This is why more and more mature women are turning to electrolysis which can effectively target all hair types including grey, blonde or red. Electrolysis is also suitable for people undergoing HRT.
Electrolysis hair removal allows women to gain significant control over their bodies again amongst the hectic changes and upheaval physically and emotionally. In doing so, women can feel a sense of stability again allowing them to feel more body confident whilst navigating changes in their physical and mental well-being.
