Winter is best season to start your Laser Hair Removal Journey - Here’s Why
It’s that time of the year again. The days are shorter, nights are longer and the sun is an elusive stranger barely to be seen. While that might not sound like the ideal time for most things, it’s actually the perfect time to start your laser hair removal journey! Why? Let’s break it down.
Minimal Sun Exposure
The first step of post-treatment care after a Laser Hair Removal session is to always wear sunscreen and avoid the sun. This is because Laser itself is a heat based treatment, where a high intensity laser light goes through your skin to target and damage the hair follicle inside the first two layers of your skin. As a result, your skin becomes more sensitive, particularly to any type r red of heat, including the sun. This is why winter is the perfect time to start your sessions as you can avoid the risk of skin damage from the sun, making your aftercare steps much easier!
Less Sweating
After your laser session, your skin is in a highly sensitive state and can be more vulnerable to bacteria and other infections. This is why, as a part of aftercare, we recommend our clients to avoid engaging in any physically intensive activity that can cause sweating. The salt present in sweat can irritate freshly treated skin causing itching or discomfort. During the summer months, it can be hard to avoid sweating as high temperatures automatically make you sweat. Hence, winter is the perfect time to get your treatments as the temperature is much cooler and you can easily avoid activities like swimming or exercising and stay indoors, snuggled up with a cup of tea.
Stay Covered in Layers
Winter fashion is all about longer layers, may it be that full-sleeve Trench coat or your new trousers! This is particularly helpful when you’re getting your laser treatment as hair usually takes 4-6 weeks to grow back. While you can shave between sessions, we typically recommend allowing your natural hair to grow out so that you can shave it 24 hours prior to the session to see maximum results! So those long sleeves and trousers come in super handy as you don’t have to worry about hiding your body hair between sessions.
Ready in time for Summer!
Hair usually takes 4-6 weeks to grow out, which is why we recommend all your sessions to be 4-6 weeks apart. Since it usually takes a minimum of 6 sessions to see noticeable results, the whole process can take up to 6 months! This is why it’s so important to start your journey well in Autumn or the beginning of winter so that you can be completely hair free and flaunt your dolphin smooth skin by the time summer arrives.
